Helene Kleinfeld
Attorney and sole practitioner
I represent licensed professionals whose boards have written to them.
I began in state government, working on licensing matters from the agency's side of the table, and moved to the professional's side early in my career. I still read a file the way an investigator does, looking for the page that decides it.
I keep a small number of matters open at a time, so the lawyer you call is the lawyer who drafts your answer, prepares you for the interview and stands beside you at the hearing.

What I do not take
Some matters belong to another lawyer.
I do not handle malpractice suits, criminal trials or employment disputes. If your matter is one of them, I will say so on the first call and, where I can, point you to someone who does.
If the board's letter has a criminal charge behind it, we will talk about who should take which part.
