How it works

From the first letter to the last condition.

  1. 01

    Step 1: A call or a note

Tell me which board wrote, what the letter says and when your reply is due. What you tell me stays with me.

  2. 02

Step 2: Engagement and the file

If I can help, I send a written engagement letter with my fee. Then I ask the board for its file, and for more time if you need it.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The first response

I draft, you correct, and nothing goes to the board until you have read every line. Sometimes the best response is short.

  4. 04

Step 4: The interview or conference

If the board wants to hear from you, we rehearse. I attend, and you answer what you are asked.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Settlement or hearing

Many matters end in a dismissal or an agreed order; others go to a hearing. I set out the choice, the risk and the cost before you decide.

  6. 06

    Step 6: After the order

Orders carry terms: conditions, reports, renewals and sometimes notices to employers and other boards. I stay until the last one is met.

What to have beside you

You do not need a file. If you have the letter in hand, we can start there.

If you have them

  • The board's letter and its envelope

  • The date your reply is due

  • The states where you hold a license

  • Any earlier complaint or order

  • Names of anyone who has contacted you about it
